About Me

I opened this private practice to better serve my clients and protect them from the easy legal pitfalls that can affect anyone in this heavily litigated society. While working as an attorney at several prominent law firms and in house at a private equity fund, I grew my practice in corporate transactions, commercial litigation, and employment matters. While I continue to handle these matters, the scope of my practice has widened considerably. In addition to commercial and employment matters, I now handle real estate disputes, criminal defense, entertainment law, and family law.

By way of background, I grew up in Charleston, Illinois. My dad was a Division I baseball coach for 22 years at Eastern Illinois University, and my mom was a director and professor in the business college. I graduated from Charleston High School and then attended Indiana State University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance and Bachelor’s of Arts in Language Studies with a Spanish and French focus. After graduating from ISU, I then attended the University of Illinois College of Law, earning my law degree in 2014.

After law school, I started my career in Chicago working for a big law firm on multi-billion dollar corporate M&A and finance transactions and general corporate formation. I received invaluable education on the formation of a company, general corporate governance, and transactional and regulatory issues affecting companies from startups to large market cap companies.

I then accepted an in-house counsel position operating as the assistant general counsel for a rapidly expanding litigation finance startup. During my time working there, I focused on general corporate matters, corporate acquisitions, and compliance issues. I also assisted the general counsel during an acquisition of the company by its larger competitor and spearheaded the transition of the legal department after the closing of that transaction.

After going through the acquisition, I ultimately determined that my career would be best served back at a law firm. I went to work for a successful Chicago-based trial boutique firm focusing my practice on commercial and employment matters. I also expanded my practice into real estate, entertainment, criminal, and family law matters.

In addition to my professional activities, I am an active member of the following legal organizations:

      • American Bar Association
      • Illinois State Bar Association
      • Women’s Bar Association
      • Chicago Bar Association
      • Illinois Trial Lawyers Association

I am also an adjunct professor in the MBA program at Benedictine University. I speak at a conversational level in Spanish and French.
